Bees

Queens - Packages - Nucs - From the Wild

Queens

Sometimes you just need a queen. Maybe your existing queen is tired or mean and needs to be replaced. Maybe you are doing a split and don't want to leave things to nature. You can get queens from other folks in the club:
  • Steve Sweet (208-850-3452)
  • Mike Morrison (888-9531 or 863-6983) - Use the order form below.

Packages

If you have an established but dead hive with frames that have drawn comb, some pollen and honey you can install a package to get the hive started again. The package will include a ton of bees and a mate queen. Our club has had success with the following providers:
  • The Honey Store, Fruitland (208-452-7035) - April 19, 2025 pickup
  • Mike Morrison (888-9531 or 863-6983) - Call to order and for pickup dates

NUCs

Nucs, short for Nucleus is a way to start a brand new hive. Nucs come with 4-5 frames of bees, a mated queen and honey and pollen. Steve Sweet and Kevin Duesman make a spring trip to Hermiston, OR and bring back Nucs. which our club has had very good success with.
  • Kevin (208-861-7831)
  • Steve (208-850-3452)
Mike also supplies Nucs from Parma, ID. You can order with the form below:

From the Wild

If you can be more patient and are a bit more experienced, you can get bees in the wild. You can collect a swarm, or you can split one of your existing hives in a variety of ways. Check out our Swarm and Splits pages for more information on these approaches.
