BBQ - National Honey Bee Day
Where: Marianne Williams Park, 3451 E Barber Valley Dr, Boise, ID 83706
When: Friday, August 18th at 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Beef, Beer, and Bees!
Come mix and mingle with your favorite Treasure Valley beeks + our special guest Dennis VanEngelsdorp, a bee expert from the University of Maryland.  Tickets are $8 or two for $15. You can buy them at the upcoming club meeting or at the event.  We encourage folks to bring a dessert to share, with honey as an ingredient.

Educational Session: How to Keep Bees Alive w/ Dennis VanEngelsdorp, a bee expert and professor from the University of Maryland.  After, Dennis will lead a live hive inspection on the Boise State Bee Team's rooftop bee farm!

Meet Dr. Dennis vanEngelsdorp

Ted Talk: A Plea for Bees
 Dr. Dennis vanEngelsdorp is a professor and researcher at the University of Maryland. His research focuses on pollinator health, and honey bee health specifically. He is also on the team at the Bee Informed Partnership, which gathers survey data from thousands of beekeepers every season to understand how different management practices affect honey bees.

vanEngelsdorp bee lab at the University of Maryland addresses:
  • Identifying determinates of disease in honey bee colonies.
  • Identifying and promoting management systems which promote colony health
  • Broad scale monitoring of pollinator health
