Good afternoon,

Attached is some information that I have just received from the Idaho Honey Industry Association (IHIA) about adding a hobbyist position seat to their Board of Directors. If you are interested in applying just follow the instructions in the above attachment.

As I currently understand this decision, from IHIA, one seat will be made available on the IHIA Board.   This position will be filled by one individual that will represent ALL the Hobbyist Groups from Idaho.  Therefore, all the other clubs in Idaho will also be putting in applications.  At this time, I have been made aware of 2 other hobbyist groups in Idaho that have been sent this invitation.  While there are no formal requirements by the IHIA, I feel that our club should, in good faith and full support of IHIA, send applications from our membership to represent the Hobbyists as a whole.  Additionally, I have had discussions with others on our board and we feel that this individual(s) from our club should be someone with a reasonable understanding of beekeeping (not a Novice), someone that has actively supported the IHIA in the past, both through the payment of dues and attendance at their conventions.  I say this because this representative will be representing all of the other hobbyist groups in Idaho.  Having said this, I want to state again that this is a recommendation from our clubs board to all of you, but anyone in the club is free to apply for the position.  We can have more than one person apply and your application should be made directly to the IHIA. The final decision will ultimately be made by the IHIA Board.

Sincerely,

Jeff Bergland
